Complete refurbishment for Luton's Profiles Plus
The council-run Profiles Plus fitness suite at Luton Regional Sports Centre is to undergo a complete refurbishment next month to improve its offer for the disability market.
Profiles Plus works with Luton and Dunstable Hospital and the local Primary Care Trust to offer a cardiac rehabilitation service and a successful GP Referral Scheme. It has exceeded its GP Referral targets with more than 100 patients currently participating in the scheme via three local doctor’s surgeries.
All gym staff have graduated from The Wright Foundation with a certificate in GP exercise Referral and Cardiac Rehabilitation Training, which includes a placement in a local hospital.
The club hopes to be awarded IFI accreditation following the refurbishment, which will cost in the region of £150,000 and is being funded by Luton Borough Council and the Inclusive Fitness Initiative. Life Fitness has been selected to refurbish the gym with 22 pieces of CV equipment and 19 pieces of resistance kit.
Although currently run by the council, the club is due to go into trust this September.
