Como opens Uma resort
Como Hotels and Resorts has opened its Uma Ubud hotel in Bali.
It is the first of two Uma sites to open this year, as Como intends to strengthen its position in the Asian spa resort market.
The resort has 29 rooms, including four Uma suites with infinity-edge pools, 14 Terrace Rooms with terrace gardens and 10 Garden Rooms. The Shambhala Suite, the most expensive of the rooms, also has a private treatment room.
Spa facilities include four treatment rooms, an open-air yoga pavilion for group and private practice, a meditation area, steamroom, sauna and relaxation area.
Australian Chef, Chris Miller, whose menu combines traditional Balinese food with other Asian cuisines, heads the resort’s restaurant.
Spa treatments include reflexology, aromatherapy and holistic healing – utilising ancient and modern traditions – including traditional herbal wrap therapies and Thai massage.
Como Hotels and Resorts operates the Metropolitan hotels in London and Bangkok and the Halkin hotel in London. It also currently runs three resorts, including the award-winning Como Shambala in Parrott Cay.
Como is aiming to open its fourth resort, Uma Par, in Bhutan by September. Details: www.comohotels.co.uk
