Commit to Get Fit Award winners announced
The winners of the Fitness Industry Association’s (FIA) Commit to Get Fit Awards 2006 were announced on 26 October.
The BUPA-sponsored campaign – now in its 15th year – recognises health clubs and leisure centres that boost membership and raise money for Commit to Get Fit’s nominated charity, which this year was the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
The ceremony, held at the Novotel Euston in London, saw Lifestyle Health & Leisure club in Portsmouth win three awards in the clubs with under 1,000 members categories: highest number of enrolments, full membership sales and most money raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
The Y Club in Manchester and Harrow Leisure Centre in Harrow also won two awards each and Thanet Leisure Force – which last year won the award for excellence – received the prize for most innovative challenge.
The White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, won this year’s award for excellence.
