Collective Paper Aesthetics creates buildable cardboard structure for Dortmund museum
Rotterdam-based design initiative Collective Paper Aesthetics (CPA) have created a new activity for the DASA Working World Exhibition in Dortmund, using a molecular modular system to create a buildable cardboard structure.
Designed for family participation at DASA’s first Maker Faire Ruhr, German company city2science invited CPA to create an installation that would offer a participatory low-tech experience.
Using specially designed, easy to construct, interlocking cardboard shapes, the CPA installation took a form created by visitors in the pop-up space with no need for special tools or prior knowledge.
The maker faire, which took place between 12-13 March, welcomed thousands of visitors who took part in a number of hands-on workshops designed to create inspiration and creation. In the future, the Maker Faire Ruhr will act as a whole-family platform for scientists, designers, educators and anyone enthusiastic about learning new skills through participating in hands-on activities.
