CoachCamp4 heads to Manchester
The fourth national training and coaching event for volunteers and professionals working in disability sport, CoachCamp, will take place in Manchester between 8 July and 11 July.
Sponsored by the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA) and organised by ESAPLD (English Sports Association for People with Learning Disability), CoachCamp gives volunteers, PE teachers, sports providers and parents the opportunity to become qualified coaches in a range of sports in just four days or less.
Taking place at venues across Manchester, CoachCamp4 will offer courses including football, swimming, netball, basketball, athletics plus an opportunity to meet people from other clubs across the north west during the evening entertainments programme.
For the first time the scheme will feature a sports exhibition on the evening of 11 July for both delegates and non-delegates, where leading sports agencies and kit manufacturers will be present.
CoachCamp4 co-ordinator, Emma Foden, said: “Young people with disabilities often don’t get the same chance to take part in PE and sport due to the lack of specialist coaches.
“However, through the CoachCamp project, upwards of 450 people have gained qualifications in more than 10 different sports to take back to their clubs or schools.”
She added: “Courses are tutored by people who have substantial experience working in disability sport and can offer support and guidance to ensure that all coaching sessions are inclusive.” Details: www.esapld.co.uk or email [email protected]
