Xponential launches Club Pilates brand in London
Xponential Fitness is bringing its Club Pilates brand to the UK, with the opening of two locations in London.
The move reflects the growing popularity of Reformer Pilates.
In an exclusive interviewin the latest edition of HCM magazine, Xponential CEO, Anthony Geisler, says the Club Pilates brand is showing no sign of peaking in terms of the number of locations it can support.
Speaking ahead of the London openings, Geisler says there could be potential for 800 more Club Pilates studios in the US alone.
“In 2019 the average Club Pilates was generating revenues of US$550k a year. Now it’s US$900k and growing," he said. "In Q3 of this year, the average studio that’s three plus years old was up 15 per cent on Q3 2022.
“There may be a day when a 1,500sq ft Club Pilates is doing a million-plus dollars a year, which I don’t think anyone would have predicted in a post-COVID world.”
In 2019 Geisler assumed there was capacity for 900 to 1,000 Club Pilates locations but over time more territories have become available. “As things stand in 2023, we think the US could support around 1,700 Club Pilates studios and there’s still a lot of demand among franchisees.
The brand accounts for more than 900 of Xponential’s 3,000 studios and one-third of its revenues.
The two studios open in London this month: Bankside opens its doors tomorrow (12 January) followed by a flagship studio in Fulham Broadway, on 26 January. The long-term ambition is to launch 50-75 UK Club Pilates studios in the next three to five years in key cities such as Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast.
Richard Uku from Deblankson Fitness Group is the master franchise holder for Club Pilates UK and has already been instrumental in opening Club Pilates franchise locations in New York City and New Jersey.
Uku says: “At Club Pilates, we're passionate about the extensive health benefits Pilates can provide. I’m excited to introduce our accessible concept to a UK audience who we know have a rapidly growing interest in the discipline. We truly believe we can revolutionise the Pilates landscape in the UK.”
Club Pilates is the oldest brand in Xponential’s portfolio of 11 boutiques. Founded in 2007, it offers Reformer-based workouts integrating a mix of cardio, strength and interval style training. Franchises have been sold in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, the Dominican Republic and Germany.
There are nine different formats and four levels to choose from, including Reformer Flow, Cardio Sculpt and CP Suspend. The 50-minute classes use 11 different pieces of equipment, including the EXO Chair, Bosu Ball, Triggerpoint, TRX and Barre.
Club Pilates says it's the first Pilates organisation to introduce a proprietary 500-hour Teacher Training Programme.
Xponential brought its BFT FranchiseBFT Franchise to the UK in 2022 and now has three clubs up and running in Hackney and Battersea London and Leicester.
