Hilton Worldwide has opened the first Conrad-branded luxury hotel in mainland China.

Conrad Sanya Haitang Bay in Sanya, Hainan, has been designed as 101 French Riviera-style villas.

Each villa has a private pool, sun lounger, cabana, and is surrounded by lush foliage for privacy. Guests also enjoy additional access to two large outdoor common pools.

The hotel's palatial SPA at Conrad-branded spa has been billed as one of China's most luxurious.

Boasting both indoor treatment rooms as well as outdoor treatment pavilions, the facility offers guests a full range of personalised treatments and therapies, ranging from 30-minute foot massages to full-day body therapies.

The large treatment rooms have been designed in a way that they can accommodate single guests, couples or even families and groups of friends.

Other facilities at the hotel include four restaurants and bars - the all-day dining restaurant Teatro offering international cuisine; La Chine serving contemporary Hainan and Cantonese cuisine; Senses, the specialty restaurant featuring seafood fresh from the warm local tropical waters; and Vue Lounge offering an alfresco setting with panoramic ocean views.

The opening is part of Hilton's ambitious development pipeline for its high-end Conrad brand.

In November 2010 the group announced it would be opening 14 new hotels to add to the 15 it currently operates. Five of these, of which Sanya Haitang is the first, will open over the next 12 months and a further eight by the end of 2013.
