Chicago club showcases multiple boutiques
Score Sports Center in Willow Springs – a suburb of Chicago, US – has re-opened following a 3.5-year renovation project.
With its innovative new concept – featuring 10 boutique clubs under one roof – this independent, membership-based club is targeting millennials, couples and families in the upper middle/ upper demographic.
The 65,000sq ft (6,039sq m) facility includes a bar and restaurant, four locker rooms, a mini spa, a gym, group exercise studio and 10 fitness boutiques. These 10 boutiques comprise: a Premier Zone, which covers all areas of fitness; a yoga studio; a cycling studio; a reformer pilates and ballet barre studio; a Movement Zone, which focuses on agility and mobility training, with equipment like hurdles and ladders; a Stability Zone, to activate the abdominal muscles and engage the core, with TRX and kettlebell training; the End Zone – a turf field for team training, circuits and outdoor exercise; a Kids Zone, with child-size equipment; a Power Zone focused on improving lower body strength; and an Aquatic Center, which features Hydrorider aqua bikes and an aqua treadmill.
Equipment has been supplied by Life Fitness, Interactive Fitness, Hammer Strength, Woodway, Stages Cycling, SPRI and Hydrorider.
WTS International acted as consultants on the project. “The concept we brought to Score Sports Center was to provide the appeal of boutique fitness studios in a large health club environment, through programme-specific zones,” said project designer Susan Shanmugham.
“Also, as Hydrorider Aquabikes were not yet prevalent in the Chicago area, we felt this was a great opportunity for Score Sports Center to provide a unique experience for its members."
The club has a neighbouring sister facility, Score Tennis & Fitness, which produces some of the highest ranked youth tennis athletes in Illinois. There are no plans to date for any further clubs, but additional fitness areas and outdoor living spaces will be added to Score Sports Center.
