Chessgrove spa added to PF2 portfolio
Fitness industry entrepreneur Richard Noble, founder of the PF2 gym brand, has bought Chessgrove Day Spa in Worcestershire, adding it to his PF2 facility portfolio.
The privately-owned spa, winner of Day Spa of the Year in the British Beauty and Spa Awards 2008, will retain its branding but will add fitness facilities, and personal training to its existing amenities. Noble said: "Chessgrove already offers red carpet treatment, but we want to introduce a personal training element to the business, not by bolting on a health club but by talking to guests about healthy living, wellness and conducting personal training sessions."
Noble is currently in talks with gym-equipment suppliers Powerplate Vibration Technology and Gym80 Strength to kit out the new facility. "The spa is a stones throw from PF2 clubs in Worcestershire, and will complement the whole leisure experience for individuals." Noble was looking at developing a complete new build spa, but said he was in the "right place at the right time" when Chessgrove was put on the market.
Noble is not looking to open any more spas in the future but is talking with investors about licensing of the PF2 brand and interested parties that may take the spa element forward late 2009. Noble currently has two gyms in Malvern, Worcestershire, and Worcester, with a third being developed in Cardiff.
The spa uses Aromatherapy Associates and Phytomer products and features eight treatment rooms, a thermal suite, a vitality hydro pool, a 12-metre swimming pool and bistro.
