Center Parcs starts rebuilding programme after fire
Center Parcs has released rebuilding plans and details of environmental safeguards following the fire at its village in Suffolk last month (April). A model and artist's impression of the new Elveden Forest Plaza is expected at the beginning of July but the re-building time has yet to be confirmed. Events scheduled at other villages such as the Sunday Telegraph/Center Parcs Junior Tennis Grand Prix finals at Sherwood Forest will go ahead as planned. The new brochure will be launched at the beginning of September. As wildlife on the lake at Elvedon is now only being fed at Center Parcs feeding stations and not by guests, thirty adolescent swans will be relocated to the Norfolk Broads to prevent territorial battles. Botanists have been able to rescue 500 tropical plants following the blaze and they have been re-housed at Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire. All guests who were staying at the Elveden Village at the time of the fire have been given a full refund and Center Parcs vouchers as compensation. Staff on permanent contracts are being paid in full for two months from the time of the fire and are being redeployed to other work on local community projects, at a nearby Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) or at other Center Parcs villages.
