Castle Howard develops new visitor initiatives
A new interpretative team has been assembled by the owner of Castle Howard.
The primary objective of the team is to make the stately home more accessible to visitors – especially children – and significantly change the more traditional presentation of the estate.
The subject matter is unrestricted and will take in the whole estate, its approach, house, grounds, statues, views, archives and content.
The team will be led by Richard Kemp who also recently redeveloped the Jorvik Viking Center in York.
So far, it has devised a series of imaginative ways of viewing Castle Howard which have been specifically designed for children and are aimed at ensuring the whole place is understood by its visitors.
The ‘more 4 kids’ initiative includes hands-on activities, behind-the-scenes exploration of the estate’s archives and discovery sessions, all delivered by trained and lively castle personnel and aimed at education through entertainment. Details: www.castlehoward.co.uk
