Capital hotel idea from Corbin and King
Two of London’s most successful restaurateurs, Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, are reportedly poised to move into the hotel business in the capital.
Corbin and King were most recently responsible for establishing the award-winning The Wolseley in Piccadilly.
Previously, the pair relaunched J.Sheekey, The Ivy and Le Caprice and turned them into some of the ‘hottest’ restaurants in London; at the height of its popularity, The Ivy was rumoured to have received 1000 phone calls for reservations in a day.
According to the Londoner’s Diary in the Evening Standard, the duo are now apparently investigating sites in central London to find a suitable property for their first boutique hotel.
The newspaper said Corbin and King have already looked at The Basil Street Hotel in Knightsbridge, although a spokesperson for the restaurateurs claimed that talk of buying the site was premature: “I’ve never heard of any interest in The Basil Street Hotel”, they are reported as saying.
