Capella continues roll out of Auriga
The launch of Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, next autumn will mark Capella Hotel and Resort’s north American debut.
Spa designer, Sylvia Sepielli, has been assigned to bring a uniquely Bajan feel to the Auriga spa experience, reflecting the Mexican folk healing tradition, or curanderismo.
Traditional herbs will be used in treatments, as well as in the food, teas and tonics at the resort.
There will be 10 treatment suites, including two deluxe suites, which will be kitted out for couples, with individual water therapy pools.
The spa pool, filled with salt water, have stunning ocean views. Other facilities will include lounges, sauna, steamroom, a whirlpool and an iced feature.
On the resort mountaintop will be a healers’ cottage, built in keeping with local design, where guests will be able to consult an authentic curandera. Yoga, meditation and massages will also be on offer on the beach.
The company opened Capella Castlemayr in Cork, in August, which is its first site in Ireland. The 17th century manor house is set in 200 acres, which contain ancient castle ruins.
In contrast to Mexico, coats, wellington boots and two Irish setters with leads are provided for guests to stroll around the grounds. Fishing trips can be arranged to catch the evening’s dinner.
The 24,400sq ft Auriga spa has 10 treatment rooms, vitality pools, a pool, steamroom, saunas and a studio for yoga and pilates.
