This week was a busy one for Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, who broke ground on an art gallery and clubhouse on a lake in southern China and unveiled their plans for a new green-topped mixed-use complex in Stockholm.

The latter project is one of a host of big green space projects which were announced this week. Others included a High Line-inspired park in Vancouver and a floating sky park in Melbourne.

In the world of sport, there was big news from FC Barcelona – who selected a team led by Nikken Sekkei to design their new Camp Nou stadium – and from Guy Holloway Architects – who announced the world’s first multi-story skatepark has received approval.

CLAD also reported on the opening of another BMX and skate park, which is located in an old Victorian bathing house in the British town of Hastings.

In hospitality, we wrote about Inge Moore’s fantastic safari lodge in Botswana; the new luxury suites opened by fashion brand Fendi in Rome; the 2016 Asia Hotel Design Awards held in Singapore; and a family-friendly luxury restaurant opened by Jessica Biel in Los Angeles.

This week, we also covered some important museum projects, including the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk, which is nearing completion, and an architecturally striking museum of curios designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au.

Finally, we delved deeper into the world of conscious cities and explored how technology could make our built environments more fun, interactive and surprising.
