Broxtowe Park to be developed
Nottingham City Council is carrying out a feasibility study on the enhancement of Broxtowe Country Park in North West Nottingham.
Research on the impact of contamination levels at the former landfill site and the suitability of potential developments will be funded by a £330,000 investment package from the East Midlands Development Agency and the Greater Nottingham Partnership.
The 40-hectare woodland and grassland area could accommodate an adventure playground on completion in spring 2010.
Cllr Alan Clark, portfolio holder for neighbourhood regeneration, said: "Local people will have the opportunity to get involved and influence development of the master plan alongside interested community groups, groups with a responsibility for the site, such as the city council's parks section, and suitable experts/specialists."
Cllr David Trimble, portfolio holder for leisure, culture and customers, added: "Parks and open spaces have the potential to benefit people of all ages and we are pleased that funding has been granted to carry out the study to help develop the space."
"This funding will vastly improve the facilities offered in the area to the benefit of families and children in Broxtowe and the wider area."
