Bristol Industrial Museum closes
The Bristol Industrial Museum is to close on 29 October this year to make way for the new Museum of Bristol.
The museum, which opened 28 years ago and boasts more than 700 exhibits, will be open every day for its last week and visitors will be able to take a last look around for free.
Andy King, curator at the museum, said: “We hope many people will take this final opportunity to come and pay us a visit and celebrate the life of the Industrial Museum and all its exhibits.”
The site will be turned into the new Museum of Bristol – funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the city council – which seeks to “tell the story of Bristol through its people”.
A selection of the best Industrial Museum exhibits will be kept and put on display in the new museum when it opens in 2009. Details: www.bristol-city.gov.uk
