Bradshaw urges end to cricket's 'bid system'
Keith Bradshaw has called for the end of a current system that sees English cricket venues to bid for the right to host international matches.
Bradshaw, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) secretary and chief executive, said that process had forced counties into competing against each other. Addressing the 2010 Business in Sport and Leisure (BISL) conference at Lord's, Bradshaw warned the current system increases clubs' cost and drives up ticket prices.
It comes after Cardiff's SWALEC Stadium secured the right to host Test cricket last year after submitting a multi-million pound bid to the England and Wales Cricket Board. Bradshaw also told delegates that there were "competing aims" between Test and non-Test venues in England that needed to be addressed going forward.
