Bournemouth reef group members revealed
Bournemouth Borough Council (BBC) has named the four cross-party members of a new task and finish group that aims to resolve problems facing Boscombe's artificial surf reef.
Earlier this year, the reef - located 225m (738ft) off the Dorset coast - was criticised in a study for creating waves that were too short and too infrequent and is set to require further investment. Basil Ratcliffe (Conservative), Roger West (Liberal Democrat), Michael Everingham (Independent) and Ben Grower (Labour) will comprise the new group to help try and draw up solutions.
The task and finish group, which is due to meet for the first time on 10 August, will work in partnership with the Boscombe Spa Village Project Board to examine ways of achieving required performance values. A BBC spokesperson said: "The task and finish group will hold its first meeting on 10 August 2010 and will complete its work no later than October 2010. It will report its recommendations to the economy and tourism overview and scrutiny panel in the first instance before reporting to the cabinet."
