Blackstone European hotel portfolio buy out
US private equity group Blackstone has reportedly bought out Hospitality Europe for around £452m (US$790m, 650m euro).
The deal will include three airport properties – the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel, Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel and Sheraton Brussels Hotel Airport – as well as the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel, Hotel Pulitzer in Amsterdam, the Paris Hyatt and two further properties in Prague and Brussels.
Blackstone also acquired Center Parcs for £205m earlier this month. Don Camilleri, Center Parcs’ director of development, added that there would be no immediate operational changes to the parks and that business at the four sites would continue as usual.
The group currently owns the Legoland parks business, and its leisure portfolio includes attractions operator Merlin Entertainments, the Wyndham International hotel group and the US-based La Quinta budget hotels. Details: www.blackstone.com
