Bangor town centre proposals unveiled
Draft proposals for the regeneration of Bangor town centre have been launched by Northern Irish social development minister Alex Attwood.
The masterplan aims help guide the redevelopment of the town centre and includes plans for a mixed-use waterside scheme along Queen's Parade and a new civic plaza. New gardens with routes to the promenade and Queen's Parade; new restaurants, leisure activities and art spaces; and boulevard planting also comprise the draft plans.
The URS Scott Wilson-designed plans will stay on display at Bangor Library until 14 January and aim to make the town into a more attractive place for residents and visitors. Attwood said: "The proposals show how the town centre can once again become a thriving tourist location and a first-rate destination for shopping and leisure activities."
North Down deputy mayor Harry Dunlop added: "This is a very significant document outlining regeneration and development proposals that will help to revitalise Bangor town centre and, in particular, the seafront area."
