BHA member college wins 2006 Nestlé Toque d'Or competition
South Trafford College has won the 2006 Nestlé Toque d’Or trophy with a restaurant themed around football.
Trafford beat several rival colleges to the title with a British Classics 1966-themed restaurant, marking the 40th anniversary of England’s World Cup triumph.
The teams ran their themed restaurants at The Sunday Times Home Show in April, with the winner revealed last week at an awards lunch at London’s Dorchester hotel.
Each team was assessed on a range of skills including team work, culinary expertise, front of house service and business acumen.
South Trafford’s team comprised Richard Brown, Thomas Sporrer, Richard Carver, Jess Smith, Stuart Fairbrother and Marvin McGogg-Singh.
The six winning students will soon head to North Carolina, USA, for a study trip at Johnson & Wales University.
All finalists receive catering equipment for their colleges from Electrolux Professional.
