The BHA AGM and Annual Luncheon, which took place on Wednesday 25 June 2008, commended outstanding service to tourism and the hospitality industry by awarding six winners for their work in food, training, tourism and the environment.

Presented at Grosvenor House, London and attended by over 900 members and guests, Bob Cotton, BHA chief executive honoured individuals and organisations for their contribution to the industry during the past year.

The training award, which was sponsored by People 1st, was won by Baxter Storey for its success in training and developing its staff and for setting up its own Chef Academy.

Orchard Group won the large business food category which was sponsored by Nestlé Professional, for the lead it had taken in encouraging the use of locally produced produce in all of its outlets.

The small business food category award, which was sponsored by SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) was won by the Lakeside Hotel and Restaurant, Newby Bridge, Cumbria for the lead they had taken in encouraging the use of locally produced food in its restaurant.

Milsom Hotels, Dedham, Essex, won the tourism award which was presented by AA Hotel Services, for the successful investment made in the group's existing and new facilities.

Sodexo won the group environment award sponsored by Brakes, for its commitment in meeting environmental best practice throughout the organisation. The independent environment award was won by Acorn House Restaurant, London, for its commitment in meeting environmental best practice for its eco-friendly training.
