Auckland mayor unveils new Otara pools
Auckland mayor Len Brown has officially unveiled the new-look Normal Memorial Pools as part of wider redevelopment of Otara Leisure Centre, New Zealand.
Work on the NZ$11m (£5.4m) scheme - funded by Auckland Council - has taken around 13 months to complete and has seen indoor pool facilities demolished and replaced. New facilities include modern changing ares; a toddler's pool' a leisure and learn-to-swim pool; a four-lane, 25m lap pool; and a spa pool and sauna.
The outdoor 33.3m pool has been retained, while improvements have been carried out to the surrounding areas. Manukau Leisure operates the facility. Brown said: "Places like this encourage more people to learn to be safe in the water, be active, and even just give kids something interesting and fun to do."
Davis Langdon, Ignite Architects and Mainzeal Property and Construction worked on the scheme.
