Aspro takes over Oakwood theme park
Spain-based visitor attraction operator Aspro has taken over the Oakwood theme park in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
The acquisition is part of Aspro’s plans to expand its presence in the UK attractions market.
Oakwood will become Aspro's 33rd attraction in Europe and the 3rd one in the UK.
It currently owns and operates the Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire and Deep Sea World in Edinburgh.
The take over also marks a sea change in Aspro's portfolio as it is the first park which will rely exclusively on mechanical attractions.
Aspro’s estate consists of 22 water parks, two marine zoos, four aquariums, two animal parks and two amusement parks.
Oakwood opened in 1987 and last year launched it’s the new £3m vertical drop rollercoaster, Speed.
Paddy McNamara, former owner of Oakwood, said: “I am delighted that Aspro has acquired the park, which is Wales’s largest paid-for visitor attraction.
“It has an excellent track record of operating leisure parks across Europe.”
Oakwood was advised by Livingstone Partners.
