Aspers casino opens in Swansea
Casino operator Aspers has opened its second UK site in Swansea, Wales.
Designed by Australian architects Bates Smart, the new 45,000 sq ft casino at Salubrious Place is one of the largest casino complexes in the UK and follows the company’s first development, Newcastle Aspers, which opened in October 2005 in the Gate at Newcastle.
The new Swansea casino opened to the public on 6 September and boasts 21 gaming tables, electronic roulette, slot machines and a 100-seat capacity poker room with dedicated dealers.
Other facilities at the site include a beauty salon and nail bar, two bars and a Clary’s restaurant as well as a weekly cabaret show.
The casino is built to accommodate over 1,500 people, and is manned by a 200 strong team who, should the casino fair as well as Newcastle Aspers is reported to, can expect to receive up to 10,000 visitors a week.
Commenting on the Swansea casino Damian Aspinall, CEO of Aspers Group, said: “Aspers at Salubrious Place is a stylish and contemporary leisure venue which will become a vibrant community hub in which local people can take genuine pride.”
Two more Aspers casinos are currently being developed in Northampton and Bournemouth and are due to open in early 2008 and mid 2010 respectively.
