Arts Council England announces Yorkshire grants
Arts Council England has announced that thirty-five projects in Yorkshire and the Humber will receive almost £450,000 in its latest round of arts grants.
The funding aims to provide opportunities for people to participate in the arts and to enable the creative industries to boost the regional economy.
Executive director Andy Carver said: “Sustained investment in the arts in Yorkshire will ensure that they can continue to thrive. The arts play a valuable role in many aspects of our lives and contribute to the culture and economy of the region.”
The awards include £26,000 for Script Yorkshire to develop its training programme for script writers in Hull and the East Riding; £9,000 for Bransholme Community Arts Enterprise in Hull to develop its organisational and management procedures; and £47,310 for the Diversity Dance Company based at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield to provide workshops in Kathak – a classical North Indian dance style.
A grant of £43,149 was also awarded to Huddersfield-based inclusive theatre company Full Body and The Voice – which works with actors who have a learning disability – to host a conference in Huddersfield in June on inclusive theatre work. Details: www.artscouncil.org.uk
