Alton Towers Resort theme park in Staffordshire, UK, has submitted a planning application for a large aquarium on the site.
The park, which is owned and operated by Merlin Entertainments, plans to open a Sea Life aquarium in time for the 2009 season.
The Alton Towers Resort Sea Life will be the 30th to open worldwide. The Sea Life brand is part of Merlin's midway attractions portfolio.
Russell Barnes, divisional director for the Alton Towers Resort, said: "The addition of a SEA LIFE aquarium will perfectly complement the fantastic range of family attractions we have here at the resort.
"The plans promise an attraction that will be a very special experience that all the family can enjoy together. We'll be adding our own unique Alton Towers touch to Sea Life’s excellent reputation and expertise in marine conservation, education and awareness."
