All systems go for GoJoe app with Les Mills partnership, investment and campaigns
Employee wellness app GoJoe has teamed up with Les Mills for a major new content offering, giving access to hundreds of new workouts.
The partnership means all subscribers to GoJoe Premium will get unlimited access to Les Mills workouts to do from home or on the go. The content will be refreshed every three months and available in multi-language.
Active in more than 150 countries, GoJoe – which is backed by triathlon legend Alistair Brownlee – is used by companies to help the wellbeing of their employees and has proven particularly successful in mobilising the most inactive users, with some app users increasing their activity levels by up to 800 per cent.
It engages users via in-app features and gamification, such as virtual team-based challenges, a market-first weighted points system across 50 different activities, live tracker maps and the ability to train virtually alongside celebrities and professional athletes.
The Les Mills partnership comes hot on the heels of an investment round which has generated £2.4 million to fund growth. Led by Venrex Partners – whose portfolio includes Revolut and Just Eat – this latest round of investment is supported by Amrock Ventures and includes follow-on investment from Hellen’s Rock Ventures.
Alistair Russell, Venture Investor at Venrex, says: “We’re excited to leverage our experience from investments in other successful consumer and/or sports-related startups, such as Revolut and Ellipse Data. The team embodies many of the characteristics of the most successful founders we’ve partnered with at Venrex.”
Major campaigns were launched last month with high-street bank NatWest and energy provider Centrica, who have partnered with GoJoe to inspire better physical and mental health for their staff and to leverage their respective Team GB and ParalympicsGB sponsorships across their UK staff networks ahead of Paris 2024.
GoJoe co-founder Will Turner says: “It’s really exciting to welcome investment from leading firms who have helped scale some remarkable businesses and build household brands. In recent years we’ve demonstrated the huge value that a social product like ours can have on individuals and the companies they work for.
“Investment not only allows GoJoe to increase its resources to support its growth but also widen its reach in supporting businesses in the health and fitness challenges they face in the modern workplace.”
GoJoe’s product has demonstrated a significant impact on health, especially with users who were previously relatively inactive. Individual enterprise clients have seen more than 61 per cent of their people reporting a sizeable improvement in their physical, mental and social health, with these trends most pronounced in the sedentary and slightly active cohorts.
GoJoe is now working with leading health insurers to quantify the impact of its product on lower incidences, claims and premiums, as well as integrating with Human Capital Management systems to quantify the impact on reduced absences brought about through mental and physical health.
