Air Race attraction ready for take-off at Drayton Manor
Drayton Manor Theme Park, UK, has unveiled details of Air Race, a £1.2m thrill ride scheduled to debut this summer.
Built by Zamperla, the ride - capable of holding up to 24 riders at a time - is designed to replicate the sensations of an acrobatic aeroplane flight and uses six, four-seater aircraft.
The action takes place at heights of up to 8m (26ft), with passengers - kept in their seats by over-the-shoulder restraints - experiencing accelerations of almost 4G both upside down and right side up. The minimum riding height is 1.2m (3ft 9in).
Air Race's arrival will see it join a line-up of existing thrill rides at Drayton Manor which includes Intamin's gyro-swing, Maelstrom plus its stand-up coaster, Shockwave, as well as Maurer Sohne’s G-Force coaster.
Colin Bryan, CEO and group managing director of Drayton Manor Theme Park and Hotel, says: "The addition of a new thrill ride is something we are particularly excited about. Air Race offers something completely new for our visitors, and we're sure it will be popular."
The park's 2014 main season runs from 29 March.
