Aerial Extreme set to swing into Sheffield
A new urban high ropes adventure course is set to swing open its doors in Sheffield.
On Saturday 17 July Aerial Extreme at iceSheffield will see the public let loose on over 30 obstacles set at varying heights above the ground.
Rope bridges, scramble nets, zip wires, swinging logs and balance beams are just some of the exciting challenges visitors will face.
The £250,000 project is one of two new Aerial Extreme sites opening this year, the other being in Manchester. The company also has courses at Bedale, North Yorkshire, Knowsley Safari Park, Merseyside, Willen Lake, Milton Keynes and Trentham Estate, Staffordshire.
Mandy Parker, general manager at iceSheffield said: "We're very pleased to have Aerial Extreme joining us. The work on the course is ahead of schedule and will be opening to the public sooner than expected.
"It is fantastic that Aerial Extreme has chosen iceSheffield as one of the sites for a new urban course. It is a great boost for the local economy, not only in terms of creating employment opportunities, but it will also attract new visitors to the city."
iceSheffield, which is Sport England funded, opened in the city in May 2003. Every year, the state-of-the art ice facility venue welcomes more than 400,000 visitors and delivers 38,000 Skate UK Learn to Skate lessons.
Sinan Osman, managing director of Aerial Extreme, said: "We have been keen to bring Aerial Extreme to a big city like Sheffield for some time so the opportunity to create this new partnership with iceSheffield is incredibly exciting.
"The course we have developed is tailor-made for Sheffield and having it situated right in the heart of a city makes it much more accessible for adventurers of all ages to experience this unique urban activity."
