Adventure park in Saudi Arabia
A magical new theme park is being planned in Saudi Arabia, with designers expecting it to be the most advanced theme park in the Middle East. The 14-hectare Adventure World is in development by Mersal Entertainment, owners of the Mersal Village resort in Jeddah. Mersal's existing Jungle Land attraction will be incorporated into the theme park as one of its 12 'immersive lands' inspired by adventure stories and legends from all over the world. Other themed zones to join Jungle Land include Wild West, Treasure Island and Mystic Mountain, a darkly-styled Italian village featuring a haunted house and a roller coaster. The central theme of the park will be based on a mirage, acting as a portal for visitors and linking the international zones through a local-based theme. Charles Pilcher, chief executive of Adventure World's designers JPI Design, says the attraction will have a big impact on the region: That part of the Middle East is still relatively untapped by the themed entertainment industry. The potential for a highly-themed immersive park like Adventure World is phenomenal, particularly in light of Saudi Arabia's interest in tourism development. Adventure World is currently in the early stages of design, with phase one scheduled to launch later this summer.
