Activism-friendly Eaton Workshop opens in D.C.
Eaton Workshop, a new hotel focused on wellness and social engagement, has opened in Washington, D.C.
Founded by entrepreneur and political activist Katherine Lo – daughter of Langham Hospitality Group chair Ka Shui Lo – the 209-room hotel, which opened on 29 September is a many-sided operation.
Part media centre, wellness hub, workplace, and social club, the Eaton, which was designed by Gachot Studios, offers a number of cutting-edge services it says are inspired by "new-age practices and experiential learning traditions that embody a holistic approach focused on the mind-body connection".
These include treatments and activities like, reiki, crystal healing, sounds baths, and yoga.
The hotel, described by Lo as a "safe space" also has an in-house radio broadcasting studio and maintains its own digital content agency, both of which promote left-leaning ideas.
Other on-site facilities include a rooftop bar, restaurant, cinema, and 300-person conference room.
Additional branches of Eaton Workshop are expected to debut in San Francisco, Seattle, and Toronto over the course of 2019.
