API criticises Clegg for taskforce 'fiasco'
The Association of Play Industries (APi) has questioned the government's lack of progress on setting up a Childhood and Families Taskforce.
Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg announced plans to establish a taskforce to great fanfare in June 2010 - but it seems that no progress has been made in the nine months since.
Adam Steiner, APi public development officer, said: "The taskforce's title, much like the 'Big Society' and 'Localism' slogans appears to be just another exercise in newspeak, lacking both transparency and content."
Shadow children and families minister, Sharon Hodgson MP, added: "Nick Clegg made a big fuss of the role of this new Taskforce, yet we haven't heard a thing about what they are working on or who is involved, and they are stonewalling any requests for information.
"This hardly fits with the new 'era of transparent Government' we were promised before and after the election."
