23 new upscale hotels to open in Poland
Following the 2012 European Football Championships, Poland remains a popular destination for hotel operators with 23 new luxury hotels to be opened over the next three years.
A market report from hotel data provider TopHotelProjects said that by the end of 2012 there were 1,975 hotels in Poland, with 101,200 rooms in operation. The new openings will add 5,200 hotel rooms.
Poland's market leader is hotel chain Orbis, belonging to Accor, with 54 properties (10,610 rooms). Last year Orbis opened six new hotels with 775 rooms.
Hilton currently has three Doubletree by Hilton properties, two Hampton by Hilton hotels, one Hilton Garden Inn and a large Hilton Hotel under development in Poland.
The 17-storey Hampton by Hilton in Warsaw city centre will become one of the largest properties of this brand worldwide and the largest in Europe; the opening is scheduled for early 2014. Hilton group currently operate five hotels in Poland.
Marriott International is also expanding its portfolio in the region currently with a Courtyard by Marriott and a Renaissance Hotel in the pipeline.
The Louvre Hotels Group also has plans to launch two Golden Tulip Hotels, while Starwood Hotels will open a Sheraton Resort.
