10m euro plans for Jackie Skelly Fitness
Irish health and leisure company Jackie Skelly Fitness (JSF) has announced a 10m euro (£6.8m) expansion plan, which will add three new clubs to the Dublin area by September 2006.
The expansion programme, which will create 100 new jobs, involves the development of fitness centres at Navan, Co Meath; Greystones, Co Wicklow; and at Shelbourne Road, Ballsbridge.
The announcement came on 25 May at the reopening of Jackie Skelly Fitness on Clarendon Street – the flagship centre first opened in 1992 – after a 3.5m euro (£2.4m) refurbishment, which added 12,000sq ft (1,100sq m) of floor space, more than 100 pieces of fitness equipment and an 18m (59ft) swimming pool.
First to open in September 2005 will be JSF Navan, a 30,000sq ft (2,800sq m) centre incorporating a 10,000sq ft (930sq m) gym and 20m (65ft) pool. The next phase involves the development of a 3.5m euro (£2.4m) club at Greystones, Co Wicklow and a similar investment at Shelbourne Road – the club’s seventh opening in three years.
Director Mark Tooke said that although the fitness industry in Ireland is still at a very developmental stage, he is confident that the expansion will consolidate JSF as the market leader.
JSF currently has three centres around Dublin at Park West, Ashbourne and Swords. Details: www.jackieskellyfitness.com
