Bride takes the plunge at Yarborough Leisure Centre
Yarborough Leisure Centre in Lincoln recently helped a local resident to face her fear of heights and raise money for Cancer Research UK, when she plunged from the 15ft diving board – in her wedding dress.
The jump took place as part of National Wedding Dress Day, a campaign which encourages women to wear their wedding dress again and do something for charity.
Jayne Curtis raised more than £200 with the jump, although admitted she hadn’t wanted to ruin her actual wedding dress so had bought a bargain replacement over the internet.
Yarborough Leisure Centre duty manager, John Stephens, said: "I've not seen anything like this before. It was fantastic to see somebody with a great deal of courage and dedication who is willing to overcome their fears for a great cause."
Yarborough Leisure Centre is managed by sports trust Community Leisure. Details: www.communityleisure.co.uk
