Worcestershire man loses almost half his body weight as part of incredible transformation
04 Jul 2024
Sheldon Donavon, 32 from Malvern, who attends the Freedom Leisure centres in both Worcester and Malvern, has lost over 13 stone in body weight.
Sheldon said: “Over the past six years my health hasn’t been the best, from going through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and after having a cardiac arrest! My perspective on life is that I’m better today than I was yesterday. At my heaviest I was 31 Stone and now I’m 17 Stone 7lbs - I have lost 13 Stone 3lbs! This has been a massive life change looking constantly at what I’m eating and attending fitness classes and the gym regularly. It all started with Emma the fitness instructor at Perdiswell, where I joined the 8-week weight loss boot camp! The gym classes have been an incredible part of my week in recent times. Not just great for me physically but amazing for my mental health. I have loved meeting new people and really enjoy talking part in Les Mills Body Attack and Body Combat as well as lifting in the gym. This has given me a ‘new’ lease of life. At the start thinking I couldn’t do it and not being fit enough to thinking how much I love it! I am now fitter, stronger and healthier than I have ever been before."
Sheldon can regularly be found at Perdiswell Leisure Centre, St Johns Sports Centre, Nunnery Wood Sports Complex, Malvern Splash and Sport Dyson Perrins Leisure Centre in the gym or participating in group exercise classes.
Jamie Hyde, Area Fitness Manager for Freedom Leisure said: “We are immensely proud of Sheldon’s achievements and the inspiration he provides to our community. His dedication and positive attitude are truly commendable. His story is a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance and the positive impact of a supportive community on one’s health and well-being. We are dedicated to improving lives through leisure and encourage anyone who is looking to embark on their own fitness journey to reach out- we are here to support you”
